燕山大学是一所综合性工科大学，学生规模5,000人。是中国中元第一个中外合作项目，设计采用了集中式、统一模数制的教育建筑设计概念，及以教学楼为中心的密集型公共系统布局，将各自独立的专业系、学院布置在一个公共空间两侧，自然形成开敞和半开敞的内院，使师生的活动取得最便捷的线路，同时为各科的学生提供了互相交流的公共场所。整体设计打破了传统的分散式校园规划模式，成为当时全国高校规划设计首例。

Yanshan University is a comprehensive engineering university with 5,000 students. It is the first Sino-foreign cooperative project of China IPPR. Adopting the design concept of centralized and unified modular educational building and intensive public system layout centered on teaching buildings, separate departments and colleges are arranged on either side of a common space, which naturally forms an open and semi-open inner yard, makes the most convenient routes available for activities for teachers and students, and also provides a public place for students of various subjects to communicate with each other. The overall design broke the traditional decentralized campus planning model and became the first case of national college planning and design at that time.
