巴基斯坦塔克西拉重型机械厂是根据中巴两国1965年签订的经济技术合作协定，由中国援建巴基斯坦的第一个大型项目。1971年11月竣工并投产。该厂年产设备14,500吨，能生产水泥设备、制糖设备、低压锅炉、筑路及重型、铁路机械等，除满足国内生产所需设备外，部分产品已向中东等国家出口，是巴基斯坦的大型企业之一。

1976年，江泽民主席曾作为援巴专家组组长在这里工作过。

Pakistan Taxila Heavy Machinery Factory is the first large scale China-aided project in Pakistan according to the economic and technical cooperation agreement signed by China and Pakistan in 1965. Completed and put into operation in November, 1971. With annual output of equipment of 14,500t, the factory can produce cement equipment, sugar-making equipment, low-pressure boiler, road, heavy and railway machinery and so on, has exported its partial products to the Middle East and other countries in addition to the equipment required to meet domestic production, which is a large enterprise in Pakistan.

In 1976, Chairman Jiang Zemin once worked here as the Group Leader of Experts Group Aiding Pakistan.
