北京饭店二期工程位于敏感的历史文化地区，西侧与故宫建筑群一箭之遥，含高档商业、餐饮、娱乐、会议展览、豪华公寓、商务公寓等众多功能。其中，建筑高度控制对古城保护，具有极其重要的作用，设计通过严谨的高度研究，建成后未对紫禁城产生新的影响。立面处理是对传统的尊重与延续，设计采用竖向大尺度陶土板作为主要材料，内衬通透玻璃，局部配以传统文饰，与现代技术相结合，隐喻了中国古典文化精髓，使人产生竹简、窗棂格栅等一系列丰富遐想。其沉稳的质感和颜色与老北京饭店建筑群的整体感觉完美融合，延续了城市空间的历史韵味；而材料本身及安装工艺又体现了最新的建筑科技。

Beijing Hotel Phase II sits in a sensitive historical and cultural area, a stone's throw from the Forbidden City complex on the west. It includes many functions such as high-end commerce, catering, entertainment, conferences and exhibitions, luxury apartments, and business apartments. As control of building height plays an extremely important role in protecting the Ancient City, it is designed through rigorous researches on height. After being completed, it does not have any new impact on the Forbidden City. To respect and continue the tradition, its facade is designed to use vertical large-scale terracotta panels as the main material, lined with transparent glass, partially decorated with traditional ornaments, and combined with modern technology. It metaphors the essence of Chinese classical culture and can makes people think of lots of things such as bamboo slips, window lattice grilles, etc. Its calm texture and color perfectly integrate with the old Beijing hotel building complex, continuing the historical charm of the urban space; and the materials themselves and installation processes are reflections of the latest architectural technologies.
